The Canine Devine Foundation
The Canine Devine Foundation is an extension of The Canine Devine Farm. While the farm exists to provide a loving home away from home for our dogs, the Canine Devine Foundation is a 501(b/c)(3) non-profit entity created to give back to our community.
From Nancy
The inspiration for the Canine Devine Foundation comes from my personal experiences as a cancer survivor and traumatic brain injury patient. In each situation, I faced tough mental and emotional challenges. I found that the support of both others going through the same thing and the unconditional love of my own dog carried me through these difficult times.
Now, I’m bringing together my intimate knowledge of patients’ experiences with my deep love of animals. The Canine Devine Foundation is my way of giving back, and I invite you to join me in these efforts. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those going through cancer/TBI recovery, as well as the lives of our four-legged friends.
Our Mission
The mission of The Canine Devine Foundation is to connect cancer and traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients with therapy dogs in order to provide comfort, connection, and companionship.
Our mission is expressed in two key ways:
- Providing therapy training and certification for qualified dogs at the Canine Devine Farm property.
- Partnering with various local cancer centers and TBI rehab facilities to schedule weekly and bi-weekly visits with our therapy dogs.
Our Vision
Along with unconditional companionship, the loving touch of a dog to a patient can provide amazing and remarkable results for those suffering from chronic illness or injury. Clinical studies have proven that dogs provide emotional support that can positively impact patients’ recovery times. Currently, patients going through cancer and TBI recovery face mental and emotional challenges that aren’t always fully addressed within their treatment programs. The creation of this foundation will allow interested owners to share their dogs’ natural healing abilities with cancer and TBI patients.
Future Goals
We aim to become the number one resource for dog therapy within the greater Boulder-Denver area, partnering with the area’s premier cancer and TBI centers. Our long-term goals include incorporating horse therapy in the foundation’s services, with patients coming to our property to connect with both dogs and horses. We hope to become home to even more animals in the future, providing additional on-site therapy services as our farm and the foundation continue to grow.
